Richard "Frosty" Forrest Byers, 75, of Gage, passed away on February 22, 2015 in Shattuck. Visitation will be held at the Shaw Funeral Home of Shattuck (1501 S. Main) on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Gage with burial following at Gage Memorial Cemetery.

Richard Forrest Byers "Frosty," 75 year old Gage, OK resident went to be with the Lord on February 22, 2015 at Shattuck, OK. Frosty was born on October 21, 1939 in a home near Gage to Fred and Agnes Byers. Frosty was raised in this home being the youngest of six children.

Frosty met Evelyn Thomas of May, OK and married her on May 28, 1962. The couple continued to reside in Gage. They were blessed with one son John Mead Byers.

Frosty was an active member of the Thousand Hills Cowboy Church in Woodward, OK. He enjoyed riding horses, breaking horses, and anything else to do with horses. Spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren race their go-carts were some of his favorite things to do. Frosty celebrated 25 years plus of sobriety, never missing an AA meeting. He enjoyed his life long friends from the Woodward area and their help.

Frosty was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Agnes Byers, infant baby sister, and two brothers, Leroy and Don Byers. He is survived by his wife Evelyn Byers of the home in Gage, OK; son John Byers and wife Irma of Woodward, OK; sister, Ruby Hughes of Arnett, OK; brother, Kenneth Byers of Norman, OK; grandchildren, Jakayla Byers and Dustin Byers; great-grandchildren, Caleb Jobe and Brooklyne Byers; nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
