Richard "Rick" Wayne Peters, 51, of Noble, Oklahoma made his way to Heaven on Monday, June 17, 2013. The son of Larry Peters and Patricia (Hunter) Peters, Rick was born on January 8, 1962 in Mooreland, Oklahoma. Rick was raised in Guymon, Oklahoma where he was a member of the First Christian Church. Rick attended the Guymon school system. Following graduation from Guymon High School, Rick attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University from which he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. Rick lived and worked in the Guymon area until 2009 when he moved to Noble, Oklahoma.
Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Peters, grandparents, Hilbert and Ruby Hunter and Harry Peters. Rick is survived by his father, Larry Peters of Guymon; his sister, Lisa Geels and husband, John, of Westminster, Colorado; his brother, Michael Peters and wife, Christine, of Noble; grandmother, Marjorie Peters, of Camargo, Oklahoma; a niece, Cierra Peters, of Noble; a great niece, Briley Peters, of Moore, Oklahoma; nephews Christopher Peters and wife, Kelsey, of Moore, Cameron and Caleb Peters of Noble, and Landon Geels of Westminster; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
Although Rick's presence on earth was but for a brief time, we are comforted in knowing Rick lived his life doing what he enjoyed most, which included hunting, fishing, collecting firearms, reading, cooking, and researching world history. But most of all, Rick enjoyed the time he spent with family and friends. There has seldom existed a kinder, gentler soul. To many, he was an eternal friend. To his family, he was a beloved son, big brother, uncle, friend, and confidant who will be deeply missed. For now, we wish him well on his journey, but we do not say good-bye. Let us rejoice and keep close to our hearts our memories of Rick during his time on earth but know we will be reunited in Heaven.
Graveside services will be conducted Monday, June 24th at 11:00 a.m. at the Camargo Cemetery, west of Camargo, Oklahoma with Rev. Charles Mendenhall, pastor of the Guymon Victory Church officiating. Services are under the care of the Shaw Funeral Home of Vici, Oklahoma.
