Ricky was born in Mineral Wells, TX to Vernon and Nettie Mae (Jones) Brunson. His father was in the Air Force where they traveled the world. After his father's retirement they settled in Garner, TX where Ricky went to Millsap Schools. At the young age of 17 he joined the Navy and was an aircraft mechanic on the John F. Kennedy Carrier. After living in Weatherford, TX, he met and married the love of his life, Cathy Lou Creech, who he affectionately called "Lou Lou." They settled and made their home in Fargo, OK in January 1982 where they raised their six children. Ricky was a mechanic all his life and in 1997 he started his own business "Brunson's Engine Repair." He loved his family deeply and enjoyed spending time with them, no matter what they were doing.
