Woodward resident, Robert James "RJ" Liston passed from this life on March 3, 2009 at the age of 64. RJ was born in Woodward on February 26, 1945 to Robert P. and Stella V. (Randall) Liston.
He attended, and graduated from, Alamogordo High School in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
On December 1, 1990 RJ and Sherry M. Moyer were married. Their ceremony was held at the last Woodward Rodders Indoor Car Show. RJ became the loving step-father to Marlin and Liane. They made their home in New Mexico and Nebraska for a time before returning to Oklahoma. RJ worked as a Medical Courier for Diagnostic Laboratories of Oklahoma.
RJ's real passion in life was hot rods. He took great pleasure in every aspect of the hobby, from building or restoring them to driving them. He was a member of the Woodward Rodders, Jus 4 Fun Car Club, and the Oklahoma Hot Rod Association.
RJ was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Stella Liston; brother, Donald Liston; maternal grandparents, David and Luvena Randell and paternal grandparents, William and Zoa Liston.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry of the home in Woodward; children, Marlin M. Moyer of Englewood, FL and Liane Moyer of Morristown, IN; parents-in-law, Willard and Nancy Miller of New Ringgold, PA; Uncle Floyd Randall and Aunt Winona Randall, both of Vici, OK, Aunt Laura and Uncle Butch Nelson of Woodward, OK; many cousins and countless Rodder friends.
