Robert Cicero Miller was born March 13, 1916 to James Peyton and Margaret Earl (Wilson) Miller at Carl, OK. RC passed from this life on March 18, 2008, at the Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 92 years and 5 days.
RC began his formal education at Vinson, OK and San Bonita, TX and completed it in the 8th grade at Raymondville, TX. RC had begun working at the age of 9 in cotton and vegetable fields and in his teen years sorted vegetables in warehouses. RC worked with his father, then took over and operated Miller's Blacksmith Shop at Raymondville, TX before entering the Army on October 29, 1942 as a welder. During his service he spent one year in England and was discharged on April 6, 1946 as a Corporal, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and the Fame Theater Ribbon.
RC married Rose Vivian Kracht on August 26, 1949 at Harlingen, TX. Rose came to the marriage with three children, Arlyne Beverly Call, James Richard Call and Thomas Harry Call. RC thought of them as his own and to complete their family two sons were born, John Paul and Mark Gerald. The family lived in Raymondville, TX where RC owned his own blacksmith shop. In 1959 RC moved with his family to their ranch southeast of Arnett, OK where they have continued making their home.
RC loved his family, however his grandkids and great-grandkids were the joy of his life, but being with any child made his day. He enjoyed his cattle and was able to use his welding skills on the ranch. RC was a member of many organizations, including the Rotary Club in Raymondville, TX, also serving one term as City Commissioner of Raymondville, the Texas Southwest Cattleman's Association, and the Oklahoma Cattleman's Association, the Northwest Oklahoma Cattleman's Association, a life time member of the American Angus Association since 1960 and an honorary member of the Arnett FFA.
RC was baptized at 10 years of age. He attended church throughout his life and was a member of the Harmon Nazarene Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Alfred Miller, sister Martha Robinson, son-in-law Robert Keller Sr., daughter-in-law Janice Call, grandsons Joseph Miller, Judd Miller and Jerry Keller, and by granddaughter Mary Ellen Miller.
RC is survived by his wife Rose of the home; sons John Miller Sr. and wife Juanita of Arnett, OK and Mark Miller and wife Barbara of Woodward, OK; his step-daughter Beverly Keller of Arnett; step-sons James Richard Call of Raymondville, TX and Thomas Call and wife Judy of Baton Rouge, LA; 19 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 14 great great- grandchildren; 1 niece, 1 nephew, other family, and many, many friends.
