Obituary

Roberta "Kay" Weeks went to be with her Lord Jesus on February 8, 2010 at the age of 65. Kay was born April 18, 1944 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming to Hannes and Pearl Edith (Hodges) Harthoorn.

Kay's early years were spent growing up in Gunnison, Colorado. She attended Gunnison public schools and graduated from high school in 1962.

In 1963, Kay was united in marriage to Jack Garrett in Gunnison. In August, 1964 Jack was tragically killed in an auto accident, two months before the birth of their son, Rusty. In 1966, Kay married Doug Collins and they added son, Mark to the family. Ten years later, she was blessed with the birth of daughter, Stephanie. They made their home in Colorado for several years, living in Hotchkiss, Delta, and Cortez before moving to Texas. They lived for a time in Panhandle, Texas later moving to Shamrock where they lived for fifteen years. She returned to Aurora, Colorado for a short time before moving to Leedey, Oklahoma in 2006.

Kay was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed taking care of her family. She especially liked to watch her grandkids rodeo and play ball, or any other activities they were involved in. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, crocheting, quilting, and baking. She always seemed to have a fresh loaf of bread ready for family or friends. She was affectionately known as "Gramma Kay" by everyone who knew her and her door was always open for her grandkids and their friends.

Kay's career outside the home was in the healthcare profession as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She was a faithful and active member of the Hammon Church of Christ. Kay accepted Christ and was baptized on March 21, 2006 in the Aurora Church of Christ. She was an active member of AA and would have celebrated 27 year's of sobriety on June 3rd of this year. She was dedicated to helping other alcoholics. She was also a member of the Canadian Homemakers Club.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Garrett; parents, Hannes and Pearl Harthoorn; and brother, Stephen Roberts. Surviving family members include her children, Rusty Garrett and wife Tammy of Ninnekah, Oklahoma, Mark Collins and wife Monica of Leedey, Oklahoma and Stephanie Garbo and husband Walter of Kiowa, Colorado; grandchildren, Celia, Ciara, Cale, and Conner Garrett; Baili and Quincy Collins, Cody and Emilie Garbo, and Erin, Elli, Ethan and Ean Price; sisters, Peggy Miller of Orcutt, California and Bonnie Beeman of Kootenai, Idaho; several aunts, nieces, nephews and many friends.
