Roger William Betts, 67 year old Shattuck, Oklahoma resident passed on October 10, 2021. He was born to Leroy and Vivian (Garrett) Betts on April 12, 1954 in the Philippine Islands.

Roger lived in many different places prior to being married. He attended grade school in Dorrance, Kansas and in the state of Washington. Roger attended high school at Salina High School and at Dorrance High School, where he graduated in 1972. Roger served in the United States Army as a private after high school. He was an active member of the American Legion and a member of the National Rifle Association. Roger worked as an apprentice carpenter for a few years after he served in the military. Roger then began his career in the oilfield. He worked as a 'Roughneck' for several years in Kansas and in other northern states. In 1978 Roger began working for Kaiser Francis Oil Company as a 'Pumper'. Roger loved his job and retired 40 years later in 2018. Roger was married on October 28, 1978 to Sheila Rae Hilgenberg in Hays, Kansas. Roger and Sheila were married for 44 years. Roger adopted his son, Shawn Dale Betts in 1978. Roger, Sheila, and Shawn moved many times, but eventually found their home in Shattuck, Oklahoma. Roger built them a beautiful home south of Shattuck where they lived the rest of his life. Roger enjoyed hobbies such as carpentry and fishing. He also built furniture which he really enjoyed doing. Roger retired in 2018 after a very successful career.

Roger was preceded in death by his brother, Brian, and his father, Leroy.

Roger is survived by his mother, Vivan; his brother, Alan; his wife, Sheila; his son, Shawn; his daughter-in-law, Anita; his grandson, Conner; his nephew, Josh Betts; and his niece, Jodi Brazda; his niece Sarah Wamser; his niece amber Dina; his niece Ashlee Hartman; aunts, uncles, extended family and a host of friends.
