Obituary

Ronald Eugene Rhodes, 81-year-old resident of Carnegie, OK, passed from this life February 26, 2017 in Oklahoma City, OK. Ronald was born on December 29, 1935 to Santford and Ada Rhodes in Wyco, WV. He attended grade school in Wyco and high school in Pearisburg, VA graduating with the class of 1954.
Ronald soon joined the Air Force after graduating high school and became a career Air Force man. He obtained the rank of Tech Sergeant after twenty years of faithful service and retired from the Peterson Field Air Force Base in 1975. During his career with the Air Force, Ronald lived in many places in the U.S. and abroad. After retiring from the Air Force, Ronald worked as a civilian contractor at the Northroup Industries at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, OK until his retirement from there also.
Ronald married Lela Pratt in 1958 and to this union three children were born; Jeff, Greg, and Rhonda. On April 18, 1971, he married Tawanda Patterson and he welcomed another son, Richard Patterson, and daughter, Talena Patterson to the family. Ronald and Tawanda resided in Colorado Springs and Woodland Park in Colorado until 1979. They then moved to Oklahoma where they have resided since.
Ronald was baptized at the age of 12 and attended the Cowboy Church in Elgin, OK. Ronald enjoyed fishing, hunting, and growing tomatoes. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ronald is preceded in death by his parents Santford and Ada Rhodes, mother and father-in-law Bill and Lena Habekott, four brothers-in-law, and one sister-in-law.
He is survived by his wife of the home Tawanda Rhodes; three sons Richard Patterson and wife Tammy of Carnegie, OK, Greg Rhodes and wife Kristy of Lakewood, CO, Jeff Rhodes and wife Kathy of Evergreen, CO; two daughters Talena Henderson and husband Kent of Amber, OK, and Rhonda O'Hara and special friend John Espino of Amber, OK; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
