Rosa Mae Petree's Obituary
Rosa Mae (Briggs) Petree, 98 year old Taloga, Oklahoma resident, passed from this life on January 19, 2016 at the Vici Nursing Home. Rosa was born April 29, 1917 in Lenora, Oklahoma to Joseph and Juanita Briggs. She attended the Raymond country school near the family farm on the JV Flats.
On January 3, 1936 Rosa married Frank Joseph Petree in Lenora, Oklahoma. This union was blessed with three children, Joseph Guy, John Franklin and Patsy Ann. They lived on the family farm located southwest of Lenora, OK. (6½ miles south, ¾ west, and ½ north)
On the farm Rosa was a homemaker and farmhand deluxe helping on the farm wherever she was needed. She also had many hobbies which included gardening, quilting, sewing, making pumpkin pies, canning garden goodies, and playing cards at the senior citizen building. Rosa won many homemaker awards which included numerous ribbons for her quilts she made.
Rosa was a member of many organizations. She was baptized as a child at the Valley Center Baptist Church, and was a member of the Lenora United Methodist Church. She participated in the Raymond Club, Just For Fun Pitch Club, Taloga Senior Citizens, and the Dewey County Extension Club.
Rosa was greatly loved by her family and many friends and will be dearly missed.
Rosa was preceded in death by her husband Frank Petree; parents Joe and Juanita Briggs; daughter Patsy Ann Petree; brothers George, Irvin, John, and Leland Briggs; sister Alice Hatchett; sister-in-laws Vera Briggs and Radie Briggs.
She is survived by her sons, Guy Petree and wife Janie of Taloga, OK, John Petree and wife Lyn of Taloga, OK; grandsons Randy Petree and wife Lori of Enid, OK, Glen Petree of Imperial, CA; granddaughters Ann Ferguson and husband Donavan of Taloga, OK, Barbara Petree of Wichita, KS; sister-in-law Katy Briggs of Oklahoma City, OK; first cousin Edna Snodgrass Allen of Weatherford, OK; 13 great-grandchildren, 17 great great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
