Rosetta Forrest Jordan, 93 year old Vici resident, died September 26, 2010 in Seiling Hospital. Services for Rosetta will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 29, 2010 in the First United Methodist Church, Vici, Oklahoma. She can now enjoy unbroken fellowship with God where there is no more death, sorrow, crying or pain. God will wipe every tear from her eyes and she will be troubled no more. She will be laid to rest at Riley Cemetery under the direction of Shaw Funeral Home, Vici, OK.
Rosetta was born November 19, 1916 near Harmon, OK in Ellis County. She was the oldest of five children born to John C. and Zoe (Sober) West. She attended Kennechec, Sterling and Parkman Schools through 8th grade in Ellis and Woodward Counties.
Rosetta married Harold Wayne (Bill) Forrest on May 31, 1934 at Watonga, OK. They were blessed with 10 children, five boys and five girls. They raised their children in the Vici area, except for a few years when they lived in Texas. All of the children attended and graduated from Vici Public School. Bill preceded her in death on June 26, 1972. After his death, Rosetta continued sewing for Milburn's in Vici, worked as head cook at the Vici School and cleaned the Bank of Vici for 12 years.
Rosetta was a member of the First Christian Church of Vici. She always made sure all of her children attended church. She was a very hard working woman and lived when times were tough. She had a number of hobbies but her main love was cooking. Rosetta always raised a big garden and canned everything she could for the next winter. She always baked her own bread and cinnamon rolls. Sewing was another thing she took pride in and always kept the kids looking like the uptown model. The girls would see a dress and show or describe it to Mom and she would make it without a pattern and it would be perfect. She also crocheted and embroidered and won 1st prize at the county fair.
Rosetta said "Don't forget dancing". She always said she would rather dance than eat. Bill, her husband loved to play the piano and could play anything without written music.
In 1978 she married Francis Jordan in the Seiling Christian Church. They enjoyed raising a garden and did canning together. They attended Vici Senior Citizens and especially enjoyed the birthday dinners that were held once a month. She also enjoyed quilting and singing at the Vici Nursing Home. Francis passed away in 2006. Rosetta continued to live in Vici until November, 2007 when she entered the Vici Nursing Home and continued to live there until her death.
Rosetta loved Vici and all the people around the area. When she went to a larger city, she would say "Look at this traffic, I wouldn't live in this town if they gave it to me."
Rosetta was preceded in death by her two husbands, Bill Forrest in 1972 and Francis Jordan in 2006; her parents, John and Zo West; son, Jim Forrest in 1964; daughter, Arlene Schamburg in 2004; grandson, Ronald Turner in 1995; infant grandson, Travis Care sister, Ruby Woodrum and brother, Cecil West.
