Roy Dean Larkey, 65 year old Gage resident, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2014 in Oklahoma City.
Roy Dean was born on October 24, 1949 to Zane and Wanda Larkey in Mooreland, OK. He grew up around the Ellis County area before joining the Navy in 1968. After serving his country honorably during the Vietnam War, he returned stateside to San Bernandino, CA. It was here that he married the love of his life Daveine (Davis) Larkey on April 5, 1970. To this union of 44 wonderful years, two children: Mishelle (Larkey) Rogers and Roy Zane Larkey were born. The couple moved several times between California and Oklahoma, finally settling back here in 1999. Roy Dean was always known as a hard worker and spent his time farming and operating heavy machinery, especially the backhoe. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing guitar, old cars, and watching the races (both NASCAR and stock cars). His favorite activity, however, was collecting pets, friends, and grandchildren, as he thoroughly enjoyed a good conversation and hearty laugh. Roy Dean was looked to as the sage of the family, and most decisions wouldn't be made without first consulting "Papa Roy." He was the rock of the family, serving as father figure to children, his grandchildren, and even his nephews after his brothers passing and will be greatly missed by all.
In addition to his parents, Roy Dean was preceded in death by brother Robert "Bobby" Zane Larkey, and granddaughter Kristalynn Cash.
Left to carry on Roy Dean's memory are wife Daveine of the home; daughter Mishelle (Larkey) Rogers and husband Jesse of Medford; son Roy Zane Larkey of Gage; three siblings Dail Larkey of Oklahoma City, Karen (Larkey) Harrington of Woodward, and Cheryl (Larkey) Rendon of Edmond; four grandchildren Leanna Marie Bartlett and husband Bryan, Daniel Cash and wife Chelsea, John Cash and Kear, and Michael James Cash; eight great grandchildren Jayden, Remi, Case, Allison, Alec, Kaden, Chloe, and Tianna; as well as an uncle, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Liberty Baptist Church in Fargo (7th and Main St.) under the direction of Shaw Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at a later date in the Fargo Cemetery.
