Longtime Mutual resident, Roy Ellis White, passed from this life on June 12, 2010, at the age of 67. Roy, the son of Willard and Hattie (Bertelsen) White was born and raised in Mutual, Oklahoma. Roy's elementary and high school years were spent in the Mutual School System, graduating with the Class of 1960. He went on to attend Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva for two years.

Roy entered the US Army Reserves in December, 1964, transferring to the Oklahoma National Guard in May, 1968. He served six years during his enlistment and achieved the rank of SP4. During his service he earned a Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle Bar. Roy was honorably discharged in December, 1970.

Roy was united in marriage to Karen White on December 31, 1979, in Canadian, Texas. Their family quickly grew to eight with the addition of their six children, Franci, Eddie, Joey, Krystal, Kara Dawn, and Benji. Roy worked at a variety of jobs including farming, carpentry, and most recently as a truck driver. Through the years, he also spent time working in the oilfield and was employed by Woodward County for a time. In 1986, the family moved to Arizona for a year while Roy worked construction. Except for that year, Mutual has always been "home".

Roy's hobbies took him outdoors to his favorite pond to fish or the field to hunt. His most favorite time, however, was spent visiting with family and friends, which meant everyone, because Roy never knew a stranger. Many special family memories were made with Grandpa Roy teaching the grandkids important life lessons, like learning to drive in "Old Blue" and how to start a fire.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Hattie White; sister, Hazel White; brother Alvin White and wife Marjorie; brother, Lewis White and wife Vivian; sister, Carol Plummer and husband Buddy; sister, Rose Castor and husband Von; brother-in-law, Donald Moss; and sister, Vea Dick.

Family members remaining to cherish his memory are wife, Karen of the home; children, Franci Custar and husband Jay of Sharon, OK, Eddie White and wife Marna of Mutual, OK, Joey White and wife Carol of Enid, OK, Krystal Nestor and husband Mark of Albuquerque, NM, Kara Dawn Honaker and husband Carson of Chippewa Falls, WI, and Benji White and wife Lori of Putnam, OK; grandchildren, Julia Blakemore and husband Michael, Jory Custar and fiancé Cassidy Jordon, Edric, Zach, and Gage White, Braden White, Taylor Nestor, Kaylie, Natalie, Emily and Stella Honaker, Blane White; adopted granddaughter, Becky Nevill and husband Doug and their children, Jordin and Mathew; sister, Evelyn Moss of Vici, OK; brother-in-law, Seward Dick of Colonial Heights, VA; many nieces, nephews, other family and a lifetime of friends.
