Obituary

Russell Wade Schmittler, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away from this life on June 3, 2023, at the age of 50 years and 12 days. He was born on May 22, 1973, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, to the proud parents Dennis Schmittler and Tina (Brewer) Schmittler.

Russell spent his formative years in Mt. Carmel, where he attended grade school and high school, building lasting friendships and fond memories along the way. In his youth, he was a member of the Presbyterian church,

On February 15, 1995, Russell exchanged vows with his beloved wife, Amy Hamilton, in a heartfelt ceremony held in Evansville, Indiana. They established their first home together in Evansville, and their love and commitment would lead them to reside in Mohall, North Dakota, and Burns Flat, Oklahoma, before settling in Gage, Oklahoma. Throughout their journey, Russell worked diligently as a truck driver, providing for his family and finding fulfillment in his profession.

Russell was a devoted and loving father to his three sons, Ethan Schmittler, Mekhial Hamilton, and Sebastian Hamilton, and his daughter, Eden Schmittler. His children were a source of great pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Russell's love extended to his four beloved grandchildren, who brought an added sparkle to his eyes and an extra warmth to his heart.

Russell will be remembered as a dedicated husband, a caring father, a doting grandfather, and a true friend. His memory will be cherished by his wife, Amy Schmittler of Gage, Oklahoma, his children Mekhial Hamilton of Joplin, Missouri, Sebastian Hamilton of Burns Flat, Oklahoma, Ethan Schmittler of Elk City, Oklahoma, and Eden Schmittler of Gage, Oklahoma. He will also be dearly missed by his parents, Dennis and Tina Schmittler, as well as his aunts, uncles, nephews, and countless other relatives and friends.

As we say goodbye to Russell, let us celebrate the impact he made on our lives, the love he shared, and the memories he leaves behind. May his soul find eternal rest, and may we find solace in the legacy he has left behind.
