Ruth M. Harbison was born November 11, 1916 in Curtis, OK to Jenny and Dr. Alden Brace and passed away October 8, 2010. She was raised in Mooreland, OK and graduated from Mooreland High School. After high school she attended Cameron University where she met George Harbison. They were married April 21, 1938 in Lawton, OK. The young couple lived in various oilfield communities before their only child James A. Harbison was born in Seagraves, TX. After the birth of their son, the young family settled in Vici, OK where Ruth was instrumental in the establishment of the mechanical contracting business her husband started in 1945. Ruth took great pride in the growth and longevity of the family business. The business flourished and became one of the longest continuously operated businesses in Vici until their retirement in 2003. During her time in Vici, Ruth was a member of the Vici First Christian Church. She took great pride in being the church organist and always looked forward to the fellowship at First Christian Church. She was also a 75 year member of the Eastern Star. Ruth was preceded in death by her mother and father Jenny and Dr. Alden Brace; sisters Alice Brace Jennings and Jane Schandorf; her son James Alden Harbison and daughter-in-law Anita Sue Harbison; brothers-in-law Robert B. Harbison and James V. Harbison. Ruth is survived by her husband George Harbison; brother Jerry Brace of Woodward, OK; grandchildren Jimmy Harbison of Oklahoma City and Lisa Harbison of Amarillo, TX; great grandchildren Jordan Harbison of Valliant, OK; Keeley Harbison and Keegan Harbison both of Oklahoma City; nephews Bud Schandorf and Dennis Schandorf of Camargo, OK along with a host of other nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
