Wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, Ruth Marie McClung, went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2010 at the age of 89 years, 10 months, 8 days. Ruth was the daughter of Rolla Roy and Edith Belle Drake Richard, she was born in Harmon, Oklahoma on February 28, 1920.

Ruth lived west of Harmon, attending the Harmon Grade School. She attended Fargo High School through her junior year and transferred to Arnett High School where she graduated.

On June 1, 1939, Ruth was joined in marriage to Robert William McClung at Elk City, Oklahoma. Three children blessed their marriage, son Terry Dean and two daughters, Coleen Marie and Conita Kay. Ruth and Bob lived on the same farm for 62 years, except for a short time in Harmon running the General Store. They enjoyed their life together, working as a team tilling the soil, tending the livestock and meeting the needs of their family. Ruth always had a huge garden and was busy canning or giving away whatever produce couldn't be used fresh out of the garden. Ruth enjoyed trips with her family when she and Bob could be persuaded to leave the farm for a few days. Ruth was a hard worker and a great cook. She especially loved spending special occasions and events with her family.

Ruth accepted Christ in her pre-teen years and was a member of the Harmon Nazarene Church. She began attending church at an early age, walking across the pasture to the church, which was on land donated by her parents. She did not receive lots of awards for the things she did during her lifetime, but is reaping her eternal reward in heaven. She was named Mother of the Year at the Harmon Church and was chosen as Queen of the Crystal Wood Assisted Living Center. She was the song leader at church, Sunday School Teacher, Board Member, Church Treasurer, Vacation Bible School Director and anything else that needed done.

Ruth was preceded in the death by her husband Robert McClung, parents Rolla and Edith Richard, sisters Reva Branstetter and Ruby Wieden, brothers Rex, Roy, Ralph and Pat Richard. Those remaining to cherish her memory are daughters Coleen Hosler and husband Merle of Woodward, Oklahoma and Conita Shaw and husband Roger of Harmon, Oklahoma; son Terry McClung and wife Paula of Harmon, Oklahoma; brother Dr. Robert Richard of Laguna Beach, California; sister-in-law Dolly Richard of Buffalo, Oklahoma; grandchildren Debra Bixler, LaDonna Neill and husband Lester, Sarah Foster, Jason McClung and wife Becky, Kristopher Miller and wife Christie, Chanda Jones and husband Nick, Bryan Miller and wife Karrie, Scott Moore and wife Lindsey, Katie Rust and husband Charlie and Jed Shaw and wife Shalene; 20 great-grandchildren, 7 great great-grandchildren, 14 nieces, 7 nephews, other family and a host of friends.
