Esther Ruth (Kauk) Robertson, 94 year old resident of the Methodist Health Center in Clinton, Oklahoma and former resident of Leedey, Oklahoma, passed from this life on December 26, 2012. Ruth was born on June 26, 1918 to Chris and Lena (Trost) Kauk on the family farm near Butler, Oklahoma. In the German community where Ruth's family lived, she attended the Solid Rock School through the 8th grade. She obtained her GED along with other friends and family at Leedey in 1976.

On July 8, 1944 in Arapaho, Oklahoma, Ruth was united in marriage to Claude Robertson. The couple made their home near Rhea and after Claude served in WWII, they purchased their farm east of Leedey, Oklahoma. Although Ruth and Claude never had any children of their own, they were "parents" to many nieces, nephews, and other children around the community. Ruth truly enjoyed being a farmer's wife and helping with chores and gardening. They thoroughly enjoyed visitors and their home was always open to friends and family with a cookie, a piece of pie or cake, or a meal lovingly prepared. Ruth decorated wedding and birthday cakes; sewed wedding dresses and other garments; made quilts; knitted and crocheted sweaters and any other pattern that caught her fancy, and had beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. Many a person can boast of something Ruth made "just for them" but her cherry pie took first place in all their hearts! Ruth was a reader, as were many in the family, so any book that was read by one, was worn out in a short time by all the trading around.

Ruth accepted Christ as a young girl at the German Church, and after marrying, attended Rhea Baptist Church where she taught girls Sunday school classes, worked in the kitchen, helped at Falls Creek , and any other job that was needed. After moving to Leedey, she attended First Baptist Church where she continued her devotion and work for the Lord.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Robertson, parents, Chris and Lena Kauk, brothers Albert, Walter, Herbert, Emil, Barney, Lee and L.D. Kauk, sisters Vera Riedl and Doris Rhoades. She is survived by brother Delbert Kauk and wife Fern of Clinton, Oklahoma; sister Bernice Carter of Leedey, Oklahoma; 24 nieces and nephews, other family and a host of friends.
