Samantha Lynn Emry, born November 5, 1979, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Linda K. Hughen, lived a life full of love, generosity, and hard work. She later gained a devoted father figure in John R. French after her mother's marriage. Growing up in and around Oklahoma City, Samantha's early education began at Nicoma Park Elementary, followed by Choctaw High School, where she graduated in 1997. She continued her studies at Rose State College from 2003 to 2005.
In 2017, Samantha married the love of her life, Ronald E. Emry, in a beautiful lakeside ceremony in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She was a proud and loving mother to three daughters: Taryn d'Avignon of Edmond, Oklahoma, Kendra Barby of North Carolina, and Star Emry of Kentucky.
Samantha was a hardworking and skilled woman who held various roles, including stagehand, equipment operator, job lead/steward, and working at Latse Local 112. She was passionate about her hobbies, which ranged from music and photography to poetry and meticulous woodworking. Samantha's precision and care for her craft were admired by many.
At the tender age of six, Samantha was baptized into the Nazarene Church, and at 44, she rededicated her life to her faith. Her strong sense of compassion and generosity was evident in the way she gave her time, talents, and love to family, friends, and even strangers. Whether through thoughtful gifts or acts of kindness, Samantha made it a point to make others feel loved, cherished, and valued—often sharing flowers to brighten someone's day.
Samantha was preceded in death by her father, John R. French; her grandparents, Otis L. and Charline Hughen; her grandmother, Zenia French; her half-brother, Randy Taylor; and her half-sisters, Charlene Tindall and Melinda Maynard.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald E. Emry of Oklahoma City, OK; her mother, Linda French of Vici, OK; her daughters, Taryn d'Avignon of Edmond,OK, Kendra Barby of North Carolina, and Star Emry of Kentucky; her sisters, Jodi Hughen-Green and husband Chris of Tuttle, OK, Christy McCage and husband Boyd of Del City, OK, and Angela French of Edmond, OK; her half-sisters, Louanna Vance of Branson, MO, and Tina Wilson of Ozark, MO; step-siblings, Lori Evans and husband Travis of Oklahoma City Area, Ryan French and wife Christa of Oklahoma City Area, James French and wife Kit of Shawnee, OK, and Sput Taylor and wife Gina of Springfield, MO; two grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Samantha will be remembered for her giving spirit, her love of family, and her unwavering faith. Her kindness, creativity, and warmth touched countless lives, and her memory will forever be cherished.
