Our mother, Sara Frances Holt, 99 of Gage, Oklahoma, has gone to join her love on December 5, 2008 at Vici, Oklahoma. Sara was born seven miles south of Gage to Letha Larison Barnes and Jeptha Allen Barnes on October 28, 1909. She attended Pleasant View country school until she was 10 years old, when her father passed away and the family moved into Gage. Sara attended Gage Public Schools until she married Sam Lee Holt of Arnett on July 31, 1927.
The couple lived in Gage, Harmon, south of Arnett, and southeast of Gage on the land where Sara was born. Later they settled seven miles south of Gage on their farm and ranch where they raised their four children. Sara devoted her life to their family and the farm, where Sam and Sara were partners in life, as well as, working on the farm and raising their children in a warm and happy home.
After their children were raised, the couple made a home in Fargo and then later east of Gage until they bought a home in Gage.
Sara lost her life partner, Sam on the 14th of June, 1993, oldest son, Jack Lee Holt on the 10th of March, 2000, one grandson, Clyde Allen Holt on the 5th of June, 1990, one great grand daughter, Sara Pauline Gossett in 2001 and one daughter-in-law Betty Holt on the 16th of January, 2006.
Sara is survived by 3 children, Ronald (Bud) Holt and wife Evelyn of Gage, Oklahoma, Rae Dean Hamaker and husband Harold of Fargo, Oklahoma, and Reta Ann Fessler of Lewisville, Texas; she leaves behind a wonderful legacy of 12 surviving grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
