Sharon Kay Stafford, 62 year old resident of Taloga, OK passed from this life on January 16, 2022 in Woodward, OK. Sharon was born on March 28, 1959 to Jewel Dean Valentine and Andrew Cecil Young in Thomas, OK. The family lived in several communities in Oklahoma during Sharon's childhood: Thomas, Rush Springs, Fairland, Norman, Cordell and Tulsa. Sharon started school at Fairland elementary and attended grade school at Norman, Walters, and Cordell. Sharon completed her high school education at Webster High. She continued her education in 1997 at Aladdin Beauty College.
On August 8, 1975 Sharon was united in marriage to Gerald James, one son was born to this union, Rodney. In 1981 Sharon married Scott VanZandt, they were blessed with a son, Justin. In February of 1985 Sharon married Curtis Stafford and a daughter Heather was born. Sharon lived in Tulsa before moving to Taloga. She enjoyed being a homemaker and had a laugh like no other. Time with her grandkids was the most important, but she also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and would never pass on a garage sale.
The Lord was very much a part of Sharon's life. At the age of twelve she was baptized and became a member of the Red Fork Assembly of God where she later became active as a Sunday School Teacher and a leader in the Mission Etters. After moving to Taloga she attended the Taloga Assembly of God. She loved her church family and they loved her.
Sharon is preceded in death by her father, Andrew Young, sisters, Arla James and Leatha Mayberry and brother, Keith Young. Survivors include her sons, Rodney James and wife Lesley of Sand Springs, OK, Justin VanZandt of Sand Springs, OK, and daughter, Heather Stidham and husband Derrick of Taloga, OK; mother Jewel Young of Taloga, OK; sister, Karen Sperling of Broken Arrow, OK; brother, Steve Young of Putnam, OK; 5 grandchildren: Noah James, Caleb James, Gracie Stidham, Brock VanZandt and Kamron Stidham; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
