Our precious mother, Sonja Rita Johnson passed away peacefully, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at age 72 surrounded by her loving family. Sonja was born February 3, 1940 in Delhi, Oklahoma, to Dovie and Lawrence Hay. She attended school at Delhi, Sayre and Vici Public Schools, graduating in 1958.
She married the love of her life, Murlyn R. (Murk) Johnson on January 18, 1958 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. To this union, triplet sons were born, Larry Rex, Gary Dean, and Jerry Mike.
She was a dedicated mother, spouse and homemaker. Throughout most of her younger years as a mother, she was seen chasing three separate flashes moving in every direction.
Sonja enjoyed collecting antiques, crocheting, reading and watching old westerns along with professional bull riding events.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Murk; mother, Dovie Brewer; stepfather Bace Brewer; father, Lawrence Hay; and brother Glen Hay.
She is survived by her son, Larry and wife Denise of Cordell; son, Gary and wife, Gaye of Shawnee; son, Jerry and wife, Melinda of Bethel Acres; granddaughter, Candice Mueggenborg and husband, Jarrod of Yukon; granddaughter, Lindsay Hill and husband, Scott of Oklahoma City; granddaughter, Menda Johnson of Oklahoma City; granddaughter, Kristine Bryant and husband, Tyson of Tulsa; grandson, Grant Johnson of Oklahoma City, grandson, Garrett and fiancé Alaina Newton of Oklahoma City; grandson, Jace Johnson of Bethel Acres; great grandsons, Jett and Jag Mueggenborg of Yukon and a host of nieces and nephews.
