Stanley "Stan"
William Thorpe
October 7, 1960 – May 18, 2023
Stanley "Stan" William Thorpe, a beloved brother, cousin, and friend, passed away on May 18, 2023, in Oklahoma City, OK, at the age of 62. He was born on October 7, 1960, in Dallas, TX, to Fredrick and Joyce Ann (Elledge) Thorpe. Stan's departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his vibrant spirit and cherished memories will forever be etched in their minds.
Stan attended school until the 10th grade, choosing a path less traveled, where he would eventually find his passion and build lifelong connections. He worked diligently in the retail industry, where his warm smile and friendly demeanor made him a favorite among colleagues and customers alike. Stan's dedication and commitment were unwavering, and his presence in the workplace will be deeply missed.
On May 20, 2018, Stan united his life with Janet "Jan" Marie (Baker) Robinson in a joyful union of love and companionship. Their love story began at the Muskogee Renaissance Fair, a place where Stan's passion for cosplay as a Viking truly flourished. He reveled in the opportunity to immerse himself in the world of Renaissance culture and was an esteemed member of the Viking Merchant Renaissance Crew. Stan's commitment to his craft and his ability to transport people to another time and place brought joy and inspiration to all who encountered him.
In addition to his passion for Renaissance fairs and cosplaying, Stan had a kind and giving nature. He possessed a genuine interest in people's lives, always lending an empathetic ear and offering support whenever it was needed. His infectious laughter, unwavering optimism, and zest for life touched the lives of many, and his absence will be felt deeply. He was also deeply involved with Narcotics Anonymous, having a strong urge to help people from all walks of life in their battles with addiction.
As we say goodbye to Stan Thorpe, let us remember him for his boundless spirit, his dedication to those he loved, and his unwavering passion for the Renaissance fair community. Stan's memory will forever be engraved in our hearts, and his legacy will continue to inspire us to embrace life with the same fervor and joy that he did.
Stan was preceded in death by his father, Fredrick Thorpe, and his beloved wife, Jan. Their memory will forever remain alive in the hearts of those who loved them. Stan is survived by his mother, Joyce Thorpe, sister, Shirley Cox, and his cousin, Tamara Cartwright, who will cherish the memories they shared with him and continue to carry his legacy forward.
