Sue Marie Barnes Hendricks was born on January 9, 1942 to Tom Henry and Margie Marie (Shook) Barnes in Qualls, Oklahoma. Sue was one of eleven children and loved being a part of a big family. She loved having older and younger sisters. She was close to each of her brothers and sisters. Sue attended grade school in Kirby, Oregon, Gore, OK and White Oak Elementary in the small community of Qualls, OK and then attended Tahlequah High School. On July 9, 1961, she married Howard Earl Hendricks in Buffalo, OK. To this union three children were born; Sharon Kay, Houston Earl and James Alan. During her married life the Hendricks family lived in Ashland and Ulysses, KS, Mooreland, Sharon and Tahlequah, OK and Follett, TX. Sue held a variety of jobs in her adult life. She sewed for the Fruit of the Loom factory and Trego's making western jackets. She also worked for TG&Y, worked with special needs children and as a school secretary, but her favorite jobs were the last two she had as a Duckwall's manager and a care giver. After her children were grown she lived a short time in Wichita and Hutchinson, KS with her first cousin, Florence. From there she moved to Big Piney, Wyoming and lived there with her older sister, Bea, and brother-in-law, Richard. She thoroughly enjoyed living in Wyoming; she loved the weather, the mountains, and her sister's family that she grew so close to. But she came back to Oklahoma to be closer to her grandchildren. Kay Lynn had started playing basketball and the boys had started playing football. In 2001 she moved back to Tahlequah to provide care for her parents. She lived with them until August of 2005, at which time she came back to Shattuck to watch the younger grandsons; Austin, Lane and Garrison play football. She worked for Duckwall's until the business closed, and then became a care giver for Carmen Lopez Sr. Sue's hobbies were sewing and embroidering tea towels and quilt blocks, especially for her grandkids. Sue also enjoyed watching pro and college football and basketball. If the Sooners played there would be a phone call to her Aunt Arnavay the next day to discuss the game and how well Aunt Arnavay's grandson, Michael, kicked for that particular game. Sue is preceded in death by her parents, a sister and brother-in-law, 2 nephews, a great nephew, and 2 great-great nephews. Survivors include three children and their families, Sharon Lantelme of Shattuck, OK, Kay Lynn, Justin, Ethan and Brayden Holliday and Austin Lantelme. Houston Hendricks of Dodge City, KS, Lane and Garrison Hendricks, Bryan, Melissa, Brynn and Myka Schoepf, Tyler, Makenzie, Meleah and Amerlyn Schoepf. James Hendricks and wife, Lisa of Depew, OK, Megan Hendricks, Ashley and Paityn Bamberger, Kirby Hoskinson, Jennifer Clarke, J'Den Ibenez, Landon and Gracie Campbell, Dustin and wife Courtney, Connor and Cason Phillips, and Brittany and Aaron Smith. Sister Wanda Carter and husband Don of Hutchinson, KS, brother Houston Barnes and wife Jalaire of Jay, OK, sister Daisy Hall of Tahlequah, OK, sister Gonza Randle and husband Randy of Rolla, KS, sister Linda Boatright and husband Kirk, brother Sam Barnes of Tahlequah, OK, brother Bob Barnes of Tahlequah, OK, sister Deborah Melton of Tahlequah, OK and sister Anita Lightcap of Tahlequah, OK. She is also survived by 16 nieces, 15 nephews, several great-nieces and nephews, a host of extended family and friends.
