Tanda Gale Hixson was born October 21, 1964 at Woodward, OK. and departed this life following a lengthy illness September 1, 2018 at Norman, OK. at the age of 53 years.
She was the oldest of four children born to Sammy J. and Gladys (Lynes) Hixson and grew up on the family farm and dairy near Harmon, OK. She attended the Vici First Baptist Church as a youngster and was baptized at the age of sixteen. Tanda attended kindergarten thru high school at Vici Public School, graduating with the class of 1982. She furthered her education by attending the TWA Travel School becoming a travel agent and later attended Praxis College of Massage and found her true passion as a massage therapist. She found great pleasure in giving massages and making her clients feel better when they left her. Due to health issues Tanda attended Oklahoma City Community College and became a medical assistant. She was employed at Stephenson Cancer Center on the O.U. Medical Center Campus in Oklahoma City, OK. She was a member of the National Medical Assistants Association.
Tanda was blessed with her first son, Alexander in 1987. In 1993 she was briefly married to David Casillas. She was united in marriage to Lester Snyder in 1997 and her life was again blessed with her second son, Jeremiah. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend. Her hobbies included quilting and knitting and she was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley. She enjoyed being outdoors in the sunshine and loved spending time with her friends.
Those cherishing her memory are her mother, Gladys Hixson of Vici, OK., her sons, Alexander Hixson and Jeremiah Snyder, both of Norman, OK. Her siblings, Rosann David and husband Michael of Cheyenne, WY., Ladina Heatwole and husband David of Woodward, OK., and Dusty Hixson and wife Tresha of Augusta, KS. She is also survived by eight aunts, seven uncles, nine nieces, three nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Tanda was preceded in death by her father, Sammy J. Hixson.
