Terry Bruce Johnson was born on September 21, 1951 to Melvin and Edith (Blakley) Johnson in Henryetta, Oklahoma. The Lord called him home on July 24, 2007 at his home in Vici, Oklahoma at the age of 55 years, 10 months, and 3 days.
Terry attended all twelve years of school at Henryetta and graduated in 1969. On June 29, 1969 he was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn by Brother Royce Thompson. Terry went on to attend Okmulgee Tech where he graduated with a business associates degree. Terry lost his brother, Tony Johnson, in 1971. In 1972, he received his draft notice and served as a conscious objector. During those two years of service he earned his license in boiler engineering.
In 1973 he met Dana Porter in DeWitt, Arkansas. He often told Dana that he knew God had brought her to him to soften the sorrow of losing Tony. They were married in Henryetta on March 16, 1974. The couple resided in Oklahoma City where Terry was a boiler operator for Baptist Medical Center. On April 23, 1975 Terry suffered third and fourth degree burns to fifty percent of his body when a boiler exploded. Terry chose to leave the hospital due to his faith and spiritual convictions. At home Terry was lovingly cared for by his wife and brethren all throughout this trial, Terry was completely healed and returned to work in four months. Terry and Dana's firstborn, Terrad Daniel, entered their lives on November 10, 1976. Shortly after Terrad arrived they moved to Henryetta. Terry worked as a salesman at OTASCO and a manager for a Dairy Queen. He received salesman and manager of the month numerous times. God granted them their second child, Danae Carol, on October 3, 1980. Terry developed heart problems as a result of the severity of his burns. For sixteen months he was not able to work. The family moved to McKinleyville, California in 1981 and resided there for eight years. Terry baptized his first, helped Dana care for her grandmother, and worked for Humbolt University. In 1989 they moved back to Henryetta where they purchased and ran a flower shop. Throughout Terry's life he would follow the lead of the Lord. God gave Terry dreams and often God lead Terry to move different places. In 1991, the family moved to DeWitt. While living there, he worked for the Arkansas county road department, obtained his CDL's and became an equipment operator. A second son, Damian Bruce, blessed their home on August 23, 1994. The family moved to Trafalger, Indiana in 1995 where Terry and Dana celebrated their twenty fifth wedding anniversary with a ceremony to renew their vows. Terry and Dana moved to Vici, Oklahoma after spending eight years in Indiana. Terry was employed by Bancroft and Sons Transportation, Inc.
Terry enjoyed fishing, watching football, especially OU and the Indianapolis Colts, and he had recently taken an interest in golf. He loved spending time with his family and his three grandchildren. Most importantly he enjoyed working for the Lord.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Johnson and by one brother, Tony Johnson.
