Thomas "Tom" Forest Hardison, died on December 6, 2008 at the age of 66. Tom was born February 8, 1942 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Forest and Luella (Thomas) Hardison.
Tom attended school in Rosston, Oklahoma during his elementary years and part of his high school years. He completed his high school education at Englewood, Kansas. Tom went on to further his education attending Oklahoma State University on the Northwestern, Southwestern, and Panhandle campuses, receiving his Bachelors Degree from Panhandle State.
Tom proudly served his country as a member of the Oklahoma National Guard from 1963 to 1971.
On June 16, 1971 Tom was united in marriage to Miss Suzie Carmichael in Hominy, Oklahoma. Their marriage was blessed with the birth of two children; Tom Douglas and Mary Sue. For a short period after their wedding, Tom and Suzie resided in Fargo, Oklahoma. In 1972 they moved their family to a farm in rural Ellis County for several years before moving to Higgins, Texas. In 2006 they moved to Alvord, Texas where they continue to reside.
For 29 years, Tom worked as a Measurement Supervisor for Panhandle Eastern and Duke Energy. He especially enjoyed his work as a farmer and rancher. Hobbies he enjoyed were livestock shows, show cattle, hunting, and sports.
Tom was a member of the Southwestern Cattle Association, American Quarter Horse Association, Elks Lodge, and Higgins ISD School Board. He also sat on the Board of Trustees of the Higgins United Methodist Church where he was a member and baptized in 1992.
Those family members preceding Tom in death are his son, Tom Douglas Hardison; his parents, Forest and Luella Hardison; and brothers, Harry and Dick Hardison.
Family members remaining to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Suzie of the home in Alvord, Texas; daughter, Mary Sue Farrier and husband James of Trophy City, Texas; sisters, Wanda Trentham and Linda Laubert; grandchildren, Jarrett and Jenna Farrier; several nieces, nephews other family members and a host of friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Tom Hardison Memorial Fund in care of the First National Bank, P.O. Box 190, Higgins, TX 79040. These funds will be used to purchase livestock at the Lipscomb County Livestock Show.
