Tomalene Hortense (Vaughan) Hutchison, daughter of Jesse Emmit and Hortensia Ann (Beckham) Vaughan was born June 30, 1926 in Parmer County, TX.  She was called to her heavenly home on July 8, 2019 at the age of 93 years 8 days while a resident of the Vici Nursing Home, Vici, OK.

Tomalene grew up in the community of Lazbuddie, TX. and attended the Lazbuddie school system graduating with the class of 1944.  On January 11, 1946 at Salina, KS., Tomalene was united in marriage to the love of her life, Harold Dean Hutchison, a partnership lasting over 73 years.  Two daughters, Sheryl Dene and Twylah Jean and two sons, Galen Charles and Stephen Lee blessed their union.

Following Harold's discharge from the Army Air Corp, the happy couple established a home and farmed near Lazbuddie, TX. before moving to Waynoka, OK. in 1949.  They lived in Wichita KS. from 1953-1955 and Cloudcroft, NM. From 1955-1965.  Harold and Tomalene became active members of the Vici, OK. community with the purchase of their river ranch in Ellis County and their children all graduated from Vici High School.  The river ranch remained a place of special memories for them even after their retirement.

Tomalene wore many "hats" thru the years, she worked as a telephone operator, a librarian, sold life insurance, ran a restaurant and was a greeter at Walmart.  She received numerous awards and honors for her accomplishments in sales and as a Walmart greeter.  Her favorite "hat" was that of wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She served as a 4-H leader and was a Stepping Stone Supporter of Oklahoma Christian University.  Her special interests and hobbies included making and collecting dolls, ceramics, leatherwork, quilting, cooking and baking.

She was baptized at the age of 15 and was a member of the Church of Christ of Lazbuddie, TX.  She was a longtime member of the Vici Church of Christ and attended faithfully as long as her health permitted.  She taught Sunday School classes, helped with Vacation Bible school and did personal Bible studies.

Tomalene is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son, Galen Charles, her eight brothers and sisters and numerous nephews and nieces.  She is survived by her husband and soulmate, Harold Dean Hutchison, her daughters, Sheryl Gameros and husband Pete and Twylah Guy and husband Rodney and her son Stephen Hutchison;  nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, other relatives and friends.  She will be remembered for her winning smile, bubbly personality, devotion to her family and strong faith.
