Gage resident, Troy Stephen Broadbent, passed away at the Newman Memorial Hospital on February 9, 2009 at the age of 47. Troy was born to William Floyd and Carol (Day) Broadbent on November 23, 1961 at Cordell, Oklahoma.

Troy attended Canute Grade School and graduated from Fargo High School in 1980. He enjoyed playing high school basketball and was honored as a Conference All-Star twice. He continued his education in Burns Flat at the Auto Mechanics School. He then married Teresa Peterson on July 30, 1993 in Wheeler, Texas. The couple lived in Hammon, Oklahoma, Altus, Oklahoma and Gage, Oklahoma. The couple has four children, Austin Broadbent, Katrina Lair, Curtis Broadbent, and Stephanie Broadbent.

Troy worked as a truck driver and mechanic for Sheridan Well Service in Woodward, Oklahoma. Troy worked very hard to provide for his family. Troy enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching western movies, and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Troy was a member of the Baptist Church and was baptized at the age of ten.

Troy was preceded in death by his father, William Floyd Broadbent; paternal grandparents, William and Sarah Broadbent; maternal grandparents, Leslie and Wilma Day; and infant brother, Curtis Leon Broadbent.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Broadbent of the home in Gage; by children; Austin Broadbent of Gage, OK, Katrina Clayton of Goddard, KS, Curtis Broadbent of Mooreland, OK, and Stephanie Broadbent of Fargo, OK; by mother, Carol Forbes and husband Jack of Gage, OK; brothers, Tracy Broadbent of Gage, OK and Hayes Broadbent of Butler, OK; by step-brothers, Pleas Hayes of Clinton, OK and Harry Hayes of Elk City, OK; by three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren on the way; by two aunts, two uncles, four nieces, other family and a host of friends.
