Vaughn Curtiss Naegele, age 70, passed away peacefully at his home in Vici, Oklahoma, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 15, 1955, in Sylvan Grove, Kansas, to Harold and Lulabelle (Dewey) Naegele.

Vaughn grew up in Kansas and attended school in Wichita, Kansas. On June 27, 1973, he married Rebecca Furr, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. To this union, they were blessed with one daughter, Ann-Marie, who was the pride of his life.

Vaughn proudly served his country in the United States Navy, a career that allowed him to live and travel all over the world. Following his retirement from the Navy, he made his home in Taloga, Oklahoma, and later Vici, Oklahoma. His military service was marked by dedication and honor, earning him numerous awards and commendations, including: Navy Achievement Medal (Three Awards), Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Expeditionary Medal (Two Awards), Good Conduct Medal (Four Awards), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (Five Awards), Overseas Service Ribbon (Four Awards), Sharpshooter Ribbon, and the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist Insignia.

In his early twenties, Vaughn was baptized and developed a special relationship with God. He enjoyed studying the Bible and found comfort and strength in his faith.

In his spare time, Vaughn loved riding his Harley, listening to music—especially country and classic rock—spending time with friends, and helping Justin with farm chores. He loved spending time and going hunting and fishing with Dallas. He was known for his loyalty, generosity, and willingness to lend a hand whenever it was needed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lulabelle Naegele.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Ann-Marie Rector and husband Dallas of Vici, Oklahoma; seven siblings, Nancy Stannard of Machesney Park, Illinois; Don Naegele and wife Karen of Las Vegas, Nevada; Melody Phillips and husband Tom of Texas City, Texas; Pam Burns of Wichita, Kansas; Dan Naegele of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Kim Ordones and husband Tony of Clearwater, Kansas; and Calvin Naegele and wife Bobbi of Newton, Kansas; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of dear friends.

“My dad was an amazing man. He took great pride in his country and in his service to it. He was a great friend, and it was my honor to call him Dad. He will be forever missed by many. I love you bushels, Dad. This is not goodbye—only see you later.”
