Verna Louise (Maggard) Stone was born to Arthur and Verda Maggard on December 5, 1946, in Higgins, Texas. She passed from this life on April 10, 2022, in Shattuck, Oklahoma at the age of 75.

She grew up in Higgins. She married Alain Duke Morgan in Buffalo, Oklahoma in 1962. To this union was born one son, Alain Duke Morgan, Jr. Verna married Eugen Wesley Douglas on November 16, 1966, in Hemphill County, Texas. To this union was born two daughters, Jerri Ione and Rhonda Kay. Later in life, Verna married Robert Stone.

Verna lived in many places during her life, including places in Texas and Kansas, but she ultimately moved to Arnett, Oklahoma where she resided until her passing. She loved animals, especially dogs.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Verda Maggard; son Alain Duke Morgan; and two sisters, Lila Hosier and Betty Maggard.

She is survived by two daughters, Jerri Rivera and Rhonda Ornelas, both of Arnett, Oklahoma; sister Dorothy Cann of Arnett; brother Don Maggard of Whitney, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of loved ones and friends.
