Services will be Monday August 31, 2015 at 10:30 am at the First Christian Church, Vici, Oklahoma with burial following in Raymond Cemetery, Lenora, Oklahoma.
Verne Leland Lynes was born on July 29th, 1916 in Vici, OK to Samuel Wilson Lynes and Edith Elnora Simpson Lynes. He departed this life on Thursday, August 20th, 2015, at the age of 99 at Kingman, AZ. He resided in the White Cliffs Senior Living Center.
Verne attended Vici Public Schools. On July 17, 1937, Verne and Margie Helen McClure were united in marriage at Taloga, OK. Three children blessed this union, daughter, Iona Marie and two sons, Willis Leon and Orvel Floyd.
In 1949 the family left Dewey County and lived alternately in California and Texas until 1980 when they returned to Dewey County and established their home at Vici, OK. Verne raised his family farming, before becoming a Federal Livestock Inspector. In 1991 again they left this area and moved to Bullhead City, AZ, due to health needs and special climatic conditions. Margie passed away in 1993. Verne then moved to Kingman, AZ where he resided since 1994, recently celebrating his 99th birthday. He has been very active in senior citizens groups, loved dancing, and has always been loved and highly respected by all who knew him. He will be missed.
Preceding Verne in death were parents, Sam and Nora Lynes, wife Margie Helen Lynes(1993) and son Orvel Lynes(2014). He is survived by his daughter, Iona Wallner and husband John of Henderson, NV; son, Willis Lynes and wife Shirley of Kingman, AZ; 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 6 great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
