Obituary

Vesta Vivian Sells was born on July 10, 1919 at Deep Creek, near Seiling, Oklahoma to Robert Gregory and Nora Estelle (Borin) Bachman. She passed from this life on October 1, 2008 at The Cottage Extended Care facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years, 2 months, and 21 days.

Vesta attended Richmond Grade School and Sunnyside Grade School. During this time she was baptized and became a member of the United Methodist Church. She graduated from Vici High School in 1938. Following high school, she furthered her education at the Enid Beautician School and at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

On Thanksgiving Day in 1942 Vesta Vivian Bachman and Charles Vernon Sells celebrated their marriage in Woodward, Oklahoma. Their union was blessed with three sons, Charles Gregory, Douglas Vernon, and Lanny Edward. The family resided in May, Laverne, and later Vesta and Vernon moved to Fairview, Oklahoma. Vesta was an active member of the United Methodist Church in May, as well as the Laverne Methodist Church. During her lifetime Vesta worked as a cosmetologist, a secretary, a wartime school teacher, and as a personnel director. She was also a wonderful housewife, mother, grandmother, and GG. After the loss of Vernon, Vesta made her home in Woodward where she resided until 2006 when she moved to Tulsa. Vesta's favorite interests were reading, crossword puzzles, and working in her yard. She was a member of the Eastern Star organization.

Vesta was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Vernon, her parents, Robert and Nora Bachman, brother Amos Bachman and wife Mildred, brother, Charlie Bachman and wife Amber, sister, Bula Bachman, sister Alberta Osborne and husband Oz.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her sons Greg Sells and wife Joetta of Sherman, Texas, Doug Sells and wife Pamela of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Lanny Sells and wife Connie of Tulsa, Oklahoma, 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
