Victor Gordon Turner, 81, of Harmon, Oklahoma, died June 7, 2013 at his home in Harmon, OK. Victor was born near Vici, OK on August 24, 1931 to Volney Gordon Turner and Altha Juanita Smith Turner. He grew up in Vici and graduated from Vici High School in 1949. In September of that year, he married Chloris Maxine Payne in Lipscomb, TX. They made their home in Vici for six years. The masonry contracting business took them to Enid, OK in 1955 where they lived for 17 years. In 1972, at the death of his father-in-law, he acquired his second occupation as a cattleman and he continued in the cattle business until 2012. He served two terms on the Vici School Board in the late 1970's.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Chloris Maxine Turner and by five children: daughters Diana Schultz of Weatherford, OK and her sons Gary Schultz (Shari) of Wichita Falls, TX and Gordon Schultz of Vici, OK; Karen Waack (Tim) of Fort Smith, AR and their children Andrew Waack (Amy) of Fort Smith, AR, Barbara Cross (Brian) of Lexington, KY, Matthew Waack (Ashley) of Fort Smith, AR and Jessica Waack of Fort Smith, AR; Vicki Fleming and her children Ted Teske (Laura) of Oklahoma City, OK and Erin West (Rocky) of Harmon, OK; Janet Shaw of Fort Smith, AR and her children Katie Rust(Charlie) of Poteau, OK and Jed Shaw (Shalene) of Elk City, OK; and son Paul Turner (Marque) of Camargo, OK and their son John Kenning (Shiela) of El Paso, TX. He is also survived by 22 great grandchildren. In addition to his children, grandchildren & great grandchildren, Victor is survived by two sisters; Shelva Jean Dalrymple and her husband Dale of Enid, OK and Twila Maddox and her husband Don of Albuquerque, NM and numerous nieces and nephews.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents, one sister - Shirley Rieger and one brother - Terry Turner.
Victor was a Bible scholar and spent many hours studying and teaching his family. He was an avid bee keeper and at one time had as many as 150 hives of bees. His woodworking skills went beyond cabinet work in the homes he built as he also built furniture and wooden toys for his children and grandchildren. In about 1995, Victor started his avocation of painting pictures and completed many beautiful works of art. He also spent the last years of his life cutting cedar trees on his place.
Victor derived great pleasure from his family and thoroughly enjoyed visits from his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
