Obituary

Virginia Louise (Murrow) Coffman (Wichita, Kansas) the daughter of the late Charley Murrow and Mildred (Hickman) Murrow was born on the 16 h day of August 1934 at the family farm in Woods County, Bell Township, Dacoma, Oklahoma and passed quietly from this life on September 25, 2022, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kansas at the age of 88 years, 1 Month and 10 days.

Virginia grew up in the rural area of Dacoma, Oklahoma where she graduated from Dacoma High School in 1952. She attended and graduated from Beauty College in Enid, Oklahoma.   She worked as a beautician in Enid until moving to Waynoka in 1968 where she set up a beauty shop in their home. In the early eighties she moved to Woodward, Oklahoma and worked at the Hospital. In 1984 she moved to Shattuck, Oklahoma where she was a trusted employee of both the Shattuck Hospital and later the City of Shattuck where she retired.

Virginia attended the First Baptist Church of Shattuck, Oklahoma for many years and later joined the membership of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Wichita, Kansas.

As a young adult, Virginia was united in marriage to Darrel Long in the Winter of 1952. To this union two children were born, Wayne and Glenn Long. They traveled with the Santa Fe and Rock Island Railroad during the early years of their marriage. She later married Lloyd Coffman Jr.. They initially made their home on the Coffman farm West of Shattuck and later moved to town where they resided until Lloyd's death. She moved to Wichita, Kansas in 2014 and to Derby, Kansas in 2020 where she remained until her death. Virginia was surrounded by her boys and grandchildren until the end of her life.

Virginia enjoyed her home, playing cards and loved to Crochet and Quilt. She and Lloyd spent many hours enjoying these hobbies together.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Charley and Mildred Murrow, her husband Lloyd Coffman Jr. and one Great-Great Grandson Trevor Palmer. She is survived by two sons: Wayne Long and his wife Arthetta (Douglass, Kansas) and Glenn Long and his wife Vonnie (Wichita, Kansas), two stepchildren: Doug and Lyndel Coffman (Shattuck, Oklahoma) nine grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
