W.D. "Frog" Bailey, son of Lue and Mae (Taylor) Bailey, was born March 19, 1926 on the family farm west of Leedey, Oklahoma. He went to be with his Lord September 3, 2011 at the age of 85 years.
Frog attended Liberty Center, Banner and Leedey Schools. Near the end of his sophomore year, in 1943, he joined the US Navy. He sure enjoyed eating pineapple while stationed in Hawaii! After the war, Frog worked for his uncle Alfred driving trucks, did carpentry work with Herman Hogg and worked for the Katy Railroad. In 1953 he began working for Leedey Lumber and retired as manager in 1988. After retirement, Frog did carpentry work with Orin Patton. He enjoyed woodworking and making ink pens.
On July 31, 1950, Frog and Joyce Peck were united in marriage in Leedey. Together they lived in Leedey until 2009 when they moved to Clinton, Oklahoma. Two sons, Jimmy and Kenny, where born to this union.
Frog served as a volunteer fireman and was a member of the American Legion. Frog and Joyce enjoyed many a travel trailer trips with friends and loved watching grandkids play ball, especially in state tournaments!
In the mid 1950's, Frog accepted Jesus as his Savior. He was a member of the Leedey First Baptist Church, serving as an usher for many years and going on many church building mission trips.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lue and Mae Bailey and brother-in-law, Chick Switzer.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joyce of the home in Clinton, OK; sons Jimmy and wife Donna of Clinton, OK and Kenny and wife Beth of Leedey, OK; grandchildren, Leslie Giblet and husband Jason, Jeff Bailey and wife Minta, all of Clinton, OK, Carol Harrison and husband John of Colorado, Jacob Bailey and wife Kristen of Edmond, OK, and Shelby Bailey of Taloga, OK; Great-grandchildren, Baleigh, Reese, Luke, Levi and Lynlee; sister Willa Mae Switzer of Weatherford; other relatives and many friends.
