John Walker Barrera, 20 year old Vici resident, passed from this life and met his Savior, Jesus, on May 10, 2014 in Woodward, Oklahoma. He was the firstborn son of Robert and Erin (Warner) Barrera. He was born September 1, 1993, in Alva, Oklahoma. The family soon moved to Greensburg, Kansas, and then to Woodward, Oklahoma, where Walker started his education at Cedar Heights Elementary. He attended Woodward Junior High, Sharon-Mutual Public Schools and Vici Public Schools, graduating from Vici with the class of 2012. He furthered his education by attending High Plains Technology Center specializing in mechanics.
Walker accepted Jesus as his Savior August of 2010 and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vici. As part of the youth group, he went on mission trips and attended Falls Creek in the summers. Walker enjoyed fishing, football, and being with friends and family. He always had a smile and a hug to give away. He was currently working as a mechanic at Blue Sage Services of Woodward, Oklahoma.
Walker was preceded in death by his great-grandmother Catherine Warner. He is survived by his parents Robert and Erin Barrera of Vici, Oklahoma; brothers Wyatt and Warner Barrera of Vici, Oklahoma; grandfather John Warner; grandparents Joe and Wendy Marak, and Dean and Lorraine Hawley; aunts Christina Hill and husband Larry, and Beth Miller; uncles Pat Hawley and wife Kathy, Gary Hawley and wife Darlene, and Keith Warner; other family and a host of friends.
