William Conrad "Connie" Baker was born on September 10, 1941 on the Baker family farm southeast of Vici, Oklahoma. Connie was the youngest of three children born to Virgil and Clara Baker. Connie was raised on the Centennial farm. He passed from this life on December 6, 2011 in Vici, Oklahoma.
Connie attended Vici Public Schools through the eleventh grade. Shortly after leaving school Connie met the love of his life, Betty Jean Icenogle. The couple was married on December 26, 1957. Connie was a strong sixteen year old and Betty a beautiful fourteen year old. This union was blessed with five children: Patti, Penny, Lorri, Kari and Toby.
In 1963 Connie and Betty together were baptized in the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn, at the Baker family farm pond, by Brother Harvey Randall. The couple traveled for about four years before settling in Woodward, OK, where their first daughter Patti was born.
Connie worked for the city of Woodward for awhile and then at Fenimore Machine Shop as a machinist. During this time the family moved to Vici where Penny was born.
In 1970, they moved to the family farm where Lorri, Kari and Toby were born. He then went to work for Dewey County and worked for 6 years before becoming foreman and then county commissioner. He worked for the county for 23 years. After working days at the county he would spend nights and weekends working on the farm. He and Betty put a lot of time and hard work in keeping the farm going. They raised pigs, cattle and various crops, but they always did it together.
One of the things Connie loved to do was work with his hands. He was very talented at wood and metal work. He could make something out of nothing and could figure out almost anything. He loved to fish, hunt and enjoyed traveling to Alaska with his family.
After God called their daughter Kari home in 1989, they created Betty's Bouquets out of love for the brethren and community. Connie and Betty shared 53 wonderful years together until God called her home on April 14, 2011.
