He attended Whittier Elementary, Alice Robertson Middle School and graduated with the Class of 2005 from Muskogee High School. During high school he was a member of the wrestling team his sophomore and junior years. He worked after school at Braum's his sophomore and junior year as well. During his senior year he worked after school for Wal-Mart.
Billy's interest in the military began as a young man. He joined the ROTC his freshman year of high school. During his junior year he became a member of the Army Reserve and attended Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and then returned to Muskogee to graduate from high school. Billy's military training included AIT Training at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas for Army Medic and continued with Infantry Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. After training he was stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas.
Billy proudly served his country in Iraq. He was stationed at Mosul, with the First Platoon Delta Company 2-7 Cav, for fifteen months. He returned to the states in December, 2007. Billy received several citations and medals for his service including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with Bronze service star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Over Sea's Service Ribbon, Combat Infantryman Badge, Weapon's Qualification Badge Expert, and Over Sea's Service Bar. Billy achieved the rank of Spc E-4.
Billy was baptized at the age of 17 in the Family Worship Center, Muskogee, Oklahoma where he was a member.
Family members remaining to cherish his memory are parents, Dale and Carla Macom and brother D.J. Macom all of Arnett, OK; girlfriend, Taylor King of El Paso, Texas; long-time best friend, Josh Snider of Starke, Florida; many other family members, army buddies and friends.
