Obituary

Wilma Kelln Ehrlich was born February 15, 1918 near Shattuck, Oklahoma to David and Eva (Meier) Kelln. She passed from this life to her eternal home April 22, 2012. She was 94 years of age at the time of her death.

Wilma grew up on the family farm, southwest of Shattuck that was homesteaded by her father. She attended the Hembel Rural School until about age eight, when her parents transferred her to the Shattuck schools. She graduated from Shattuck High School in 1935 as the Valedictorian of her class.

In the spring of 1938 she met the love her life, Wesley Ehrlich, Sr. They married on July 17, 1938 at the Ehrlich farm home in the Catesby area. It was a double-ring ceremony, with the other couple in the wedding being Wilma's brother Dave and Wesley's sister Virginia. Wilma and Wesley enjoyed sixty-four years of married life prior to Wesley's death in April, 2003.

For the first years of their married life Wilma and Wesley lived on the Ehrlich family farm. In 1946 they moved to their new home in Shattuck, where she continued her life as homemaker, taking great pride in raising her family.

Wilma was a charter member or the Shattuck Church of the Nazarene and lived out that love for God through service to her church. Church attendance was always one of her primary commitments. She is remembered as being a loyal, dedicated church member. She was also a life member of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia and a member of the Newman Memorial Hospital Women's Auxiliary – serving more than 3,000 hours. She was also active in the Shattuck Senior Citizen organization.

Wilma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wesley; her parents; five sisters, Hannah, Hulda, Cecilia, Victoria, and Olivia; two brothers, Dave and Leroy; and sister-in-law, Virginia Kelln. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Karen and Lael Fuqua and Janice and Wallace Williams all of Bethany, Oklahoma; by son, Wesley, Jr. and his wife Claudette of Gage, Oklahoma; grandson, Nathanael Ehrlich; three granddaughters and their husbands, Anna and Chris Sconyers of Gage, Oklahoma, Erika and David Schoenberger of Divide, Colorado and Nicole and Brent Preston of Winfield, Illinois; thirteen great-grandchildren, Justin, Arin and Patrick Ehrlich, Alexis and Reece Sconyers, Whitney, Charley, Samuel, David and Ellyana Schoenberger, Steele, Stone, Katie and Strider Preston. She is also survived by her brother, Rear Admiral (ret.) Albert Kelln and wife Cecily of Llano, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

The family extends a special thanks to the four wonderful ladies who gave their mother loving care while she was able to remain in her own home; Pam Jahay, Della Longhofer, Delores Stafford and Rosie Valentine. We know that God sent each of you our way to be a special blessing to our mother. Wilma often said that a special time each afternoon was when Della read to her from the Scriptures.
