Frank grew up 7 ½ miles west of Vici on the Family Farm where he helped milk the cows and learned mechanic skills from his Dad, graduating from Vici Public School.
He began working at an early age in the oilfield where he made many friends that he kept in contact with all his life, then as an Independent Owner/Operator of Red Rider Trucking….driving Cross Country. He never missed a chance to tour any facility where he was picking up a load. He could tell you things from how they make Cheetos to how they make electromagnet power for trains. And he knew the highways all across the country and was always available for directions and advice on what to see. He finished out his job history in road construction where he both transported and operated heavy equipment and/or whatever needed doing.
He retired and returned to the Family place near Vici where he spent his days taking care of his cattle, helping out neighbors with small odd jobs on tractors and equipment and visiting friends at the 'council meetings'--- Also known as having coffee at B-Mart. He always remembered to bring out gizzards for the dogs. But his favorite thing was time spent with his Grandkids. They were right beside him no matter what he was doing. Whether it was feeding bottle calves, learning to use a chain saw and cutting wood, clearing cedar trees, building fence, mechanic work etc. Lots of fishing trips, wiener roasts, camping, lake and boat time- pulling a tube.
Those dogs, impossible to tell who was more important, him to the dogs or the dogs to him. But that was just the start of his love for animals-wild or domestic. He cared for them all, quail feeders/waterers set up in the pasture, dove/pigeon feeders at the barn and of course he fed the wild turkey and the deer out by the chicken yard near the house. His most unique 'friend' is the porcupine who brought her baby up to the home this summer.
Frank enjoyed the simple, everyday wonders of life and all that came with them. He treasured his family and friends and found good in everyone.
